MEDIATORS
Together the applicants should indicate on the application your choice of mediators.
If you are unable to agree, please select that option on the application.
If a mediator would have a conflict doing a mediation with either of you, please indicate that as well. A “conflict” could be that you know or are related to the mediator, or have had personal or professional dealings with the mediator.
Brian Miller
: After a successful career with the VT State Police Brian started Green Mountain Resolutions. Brian specializes in mediation, conflict resolution training and Conflict Coaching. Brian focuses on business mediations between customer/clients and withincompanies.
Adam Powers
has been a mediator since 2010, and a practicing Vermont attorney since 2011. Adam regularly teaches Mediation at Vermont Law School, is familiar with landlord/tenant law and the particular challenges created by the pandemic. As a mediator, Adam manages a process where parties in difficult situations can meaningfully participate to move their lives forward.
Tad Powers
: As a Vermont lawyer and mediator, Tad Powers has mediated over a thousand cases, including real estate, family, employment and business disputes. He teaches Negotiation and Mediation at Vermont Law School and has conducted numerous trainings and workshops on dispute resolution for bar associations, attorney groups, and business and non-profit organizations. He is a former chair of the Vermont Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution, admitted to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and has been named for several years in Best Lawyers for Mediation and Arbitration.
Brian Sawyer
has practiced law in Vermont for over thirty years, first with Vermont Legal Aid and, since 2003, in private practice. Both at VLA and in private practice, he represented tenants in eviction defenses and affirmative lawsuits, before the Vermont Supreme Court and in a federal class action. He has also represented many landlords and currently represent the management company of a number of subsidized housing projects. He believes this background allows him to understand the perspectives of both landlords and tenants

Susanne Terry
(Susan) is a professional mediator with extensive experience in a variety of types of disputes. She is a case supervisor for the Vermont Superior Court Mediator Program, is a roster mediator for the Environmental Court, and was the consultant to the creation of several of Vermont's agency mediation programs. She was the creator and director of the Woodbury College Mediation Program and has taught at Woodbury College, Champlain College, Vermont Law School, and UVM. Her work is client centered and focused on seeing that parties feel that they are comfortable with the process, are heard and understood and they are making the best decisions possible.
